Hello! We're joining this edible experiment.
We're Maude and the Capt'n. We live in Washington, and have a vegetable garden in the back yard which will provide some of our locally grown food. We also plan to shop the Washington Farmer's Market on Thursdays, as well as our local independent grocery stores.
It's not that we're against the big guys, because we will continue to shop there, too, for those special items - like toilet paper! - that we can't find from the independent sellers.
Now - off to the garden to see what's ready to harvest.

I have found your blog just few minutes ago, just by chance.
I stopped a while: foods pictures, in a 'strange' (more later) mixture; what are they eating there, in Iowa?
But i read some posts and saw 'extra virgin olive oil' in a recipe...
Mmmm, interesting... so, they don't eat only those strange named cheeses and all that ketchup and sauces...
I live in Tuscany (Italy), the 'Chianti' wine and virgin olive oil and 'chianina' steak country, so usually we are very proud the way we eat.
I beg your pardon for my english; I have bookmarked your blog, to come back to visit you, and hope you will be interested in some italian recipe one of this day!

Please tell us where you purchase your daily food. Is it made in your town/city?
That is our purpose -- we believe that too much of our food comes many miles away - thousands! in fact - and we want to eat more locally grown food.
We also want to help our local merchants continue in business by buying from them instead of buying from the large regional stores.
